Boston Bruins hire former defenseman as assistant coach

Boston Bruins general manager Don Sweeney announced that the club has hired John Gruden as an Assistant Coach.
Gruden spent the past four years as an assistant coach under Barry Trotz for the New York Islanders.
He spent two seasons as Head Coach of the Hamilton Bulldogs of the OHL, and led them to a 43-18-7 record. Gruden's first head coaching job came in 2015-16 for the Flint Firebirds of the Ontario Hockey League.
The Minnesota native was selected in the eighth round (168thoverall) by the Boston Bruins in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft.
The 6', 200 lb. defenseman appeared in 59 of his 92 career NHL games with the Bs.
