Bruins provide update on Matt Grzelcyk - Could his season be over?
During the second period of last night's game, defenseman Matt Grzelcyk fell to the ice behind the Bruins' goal in serious pain. Grzelcyk tried to steal the puck from Hurricanes Andrei Svechnikov and it appeared as Svechnikov fell he pulled down on the Bruins' arm. Grzelcyk was down for several minutes and he did not return.
After the game Bruins Head Coach Bruce Cassidy provided this update.
"It's upper-body," Cassidy told NESN, "I don't know how long right now. He didn't return, obviously. It's not his head. We'll see in the morning where he's at."
Cassidy obviously didn't have much information but Dr. Harjas Grewal, who is a University of Manitoba Family Medicine Resident and a HUGE NHL fan provided his take from the video evidence.
Worry about a shoulder dislocation/subluxation for Grzelcyk
Whenever it happens on a lighter play like this, we often hear about the player going for surgery soon (5+ month recovery) but hopefully can rehab and return this year (week-to-week)
MRI next to evaluate shoulder
Hopefully as get some news on Matt Grzelcyk and it's positive because the Bruins could use a string of good luck now more than ever.
