Tyler Bertuzzi's production priced him out of a return to the Toronto Maple Leafs, as it'd have cost GM Brad Treliving and the Toronto Maple Leafs $5.5 M AAV.

Of course, this was the value Bertuzzi was reportedly asking in Toronto, but they were unable to match it.

Tyler Bertuzzi says the Blackhawks weren't on his radar until Nick Foligno called the day before free agency and let him know they were interested. Foligno basically an extension of the front office at this point.

Then, Bertuzzi sat in limbo, as the Leafs put him on the backburner as they signed Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Chris Tanev, Jani Hakanpaa, and Anthony Stolarz.

This should be an easy win for GM Don Sweeney right? Another 40 points to add to the forward group, he's had chemistry with before?

Unfortunately, not as former Boston Bruins, now Chicago Blackhawks leader, Nick Foligno stepped in.

Foligno worked the phones and sold Tyler Bertuzzi on signing in Chicago and Blackhawks GM would deliver the AAV Bertuzzi wanted, along with the opportunity to play on the same line, with wunderkind center Connor Bedard.

Not only is Boston out another top-six forward, they will have to go back to the drawing board, as not only is Bertuzzi gone, so is Vladimir Tarasenko.

The Bruins need answers, as Elias Lindholm alone won't solve the teams offensive woes.
