Gary Bettman held his ''annual opening remarks'' prior to game one of the Stanley Cup Finals in Denver, Colorado, last night.
The most significant announcement he made was that the 2021-22 season would finish with the highest revenue amount in NHL history once completed. So, not only was this season a major success on the ice in terms of offensive output and record-setting seasons by players but also off the ice as well.
The commissioner also announced that the 2022-23 regular season would begin on October 11th, so the NHL is finally returning to its normal schedule after dealing with the pandemic for over two years. He also noted that the entire schedule would be made available to the public in July sometime.
