As if there was ever any doubt.
Boston might be the best sporting city in the world, and they have the stats to back it up. After the Boston Celtics advanced to the 2022 NBA Finals, the Red Sox of the MLB now have the longest drought of a final appearance in Boston, which is at three and a half years.
Boston sports fans have enjoyed 12 championships and 19 championship appearances since the year 2000, with the last championship win coming in 2018.
Here's a breakdown of the finals appearances of the four major sports teams in Boston since 2000:
2022: Celtics (TBD)
2019: Bruins (loss)
2018: Red Sox (win), Patriots (win)
2017: Patriots (loss)
2016: Patriots (win)
2014: Patriots (win)
2013: Red Sox (win), Bruins (loss)
2011: Bruins (win), Patriots (loss)
2010: Celtics (loss)
2008: Celtics (win)
2007: Red Sox (win), Patriots (loss)
2004: Red Sox (win), Patriots (win)
2001: Patriots (win)
It's safe to say that Boston sports fans have been quite spoiled in the past 20 years or so, with the Celtics having the opportunity to win the city's 13th championship since 2000.
