Montreal Canadiens veteran goaltender Carey Price has only played 30 games since the beginning of the 2020-21 season.
After a deep playoff run that ended in a Stanley Cup Finals loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2021, Price underwent knee surgery.
After being expected to return for the start of the 2021-22 season, the veteran voluntarily checked into the player's assistance program for mental health issues that was later revealed as substance abuse.
Former Canadiens goaltending coach, Stephane Waite, gave a major update regarding Price:
Price, 34, has five years remaining on his current contract that comes with an AAV of $10.5 million.
