Juraj Slafkovsky was the surprising number one overall selection for the Montreal Canadiens at the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.
As Canadiens and NHL fans have come to know, the 18-year-old Slovakian is already a large man, standing at 6'4''. However, recent reports have been that Slafkovsky also put on an extra 20 pounds this summer, putting him in the top-five heaviest NHL players.
Being the number one pick, Slafkovsky obviously gets a lot of attention on and off the ice. He was named to the Canadiens prospect roster, where in game one, a Buffalo Sabres prospect attempted to throw a big hit on the forward, realizing that Slafkovsky is a brick wall:
Sadly, however, it has come to the media's attention that Slafkovsky was possibly injured in that play. Even though he appeared fine after, according to former Canadiens scout Grant McCagg, the rookie is out for the rest of the tournament:
''Devils broadcaster said they were told that Slafkovsky wouldn't play again in the tournament.''
