Blues forward Vladimir Tarasenko has wanted out of St. Louis for awhile now, as he requested a trade last summer.
St. Louis have not yet received an offer they're willing to accept for their all-star winger. Tarasenko also has a full no-trade-clause so it limits trade partners for the Blues.
The Russian is a six-time 30-goal scorer and several teams will be heavily interested.
According to sources, two Eastern Conference teams are closely linked and likely a new destination for the winger.
Tarasenko has one year remaining on his deal, that comes with a cap hit of $7.5 million.
The Flyers would probably have to send a contract like
James Van Riemsdyk the other way for it to work cap wise. (John Tortorella may not be an attractive coaching option for a player like Tarasenko).
The Islanders have just moved into the brand new UBS Arena and they have a new head coach in Lane Lambert. The club also has about $11 million in cap space, making it easy to take on a large contract.
