The New York Islanders are at a crossroads, as their center Brock Nelson enters 2024-2025 with his contract expiring at the end of the season.
As the team is out of playoff contention, trade rumors are heating up around the Islanders veteran.
The Athletic's Arthur Staple thinks that Lou Lamiorello could get a great return, should Lamiorello trade Nelson.
Nelson is a consistent, goal-scoring forward for the Islanders producing 25 goal seasons for the past six seasons in the NHL. His veteran leadership skills and versatility to play both wing and center make him an attractive trade candidate.
But Lamiorello's asking price is a bit steep, as he wants 1st round pick and a prospect in return for Nelson.
Some Islanders fans think he should ask for more, but if this is the case could the Bruins find a way to make a move for one of the Islander's best wingers?
He could be a solid addition to the Bruins top six and add scoring depth that is much needed.
In 82 games with the Islanders last season Nelson scored 69 points( 34 G, 35 a).
