Boston Bruins head coach Joe Sacco made a major announcement involving Boston Bruins top defenseman Charlie McAvoy regarding the Bruins upcoming road trip.

Charlie McAvoy injured his shoulder during the first game of the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament against Finland after taking a brutal hit from behind that threw him shoulder first into the post.
McAvoy went on to play the second game against Team Canada, and did not look like he was dealing with any injuries, but it would later be announced that McAvoy was going to miss their third game against Sweden.
Later that night, McAvoy was admitted to the hospital, and Boston Bruins head physician Dr. Peter Asnis revealed what was going on with McAvoy.
"Upon returning to Boston, he developed increasing pain, for which he was evaluated by the Boston Bruins' medical staff. After undergoing x-rays, MRIs, and bloodwork, he was diagnosed as having an infection in his right shoulder, as well as a significant injury to his AC joint.

He underwent an irrigation and debridement procedure at Massachusetts General Hospital on February 18. He remains in the hospital, where he is being treated with IV antibiotics, and his condition is improving."

Sacco Makes An Announcement Regarding McAvoy

It's still unclear when McAvoy is going to make his return to the Boston Bruins lineup, but head coach Joe Sacco confirmed that he will not be joining the Boston Bruins on their five-game road trip.
After all was said and done with the 4 Nations, a report came out from Elliotte Friedman that the Boston Bruins were not happy with how Charlie McAvoy was treated from Team USA's medical team, but Don Sweeney did not want to address it publicly.
«We're very grateful and appreciative to (team doctor) Dr. (Peter) Asnis and the medical staff that took care of Charlie,» Sweeney said. «Again, the care that Charlie received here is what's most important from the standpoint of where his health is at now, and that's all that really matters,» Sweeney said. «Dr. Asnis' team, as I stated, did a great job.»

As of right now, Charlie McAvoy is still being labelled week-to-week.
