A Major Turn Of Events Surfaces In The Boston Bruins Hiring Top Head Coach Rick Tocchet: Per Insider

With the Boston Bruins still searching for a new head coach for the 2025-26 season, a major turn of events has surfaced in them missing out on one of the top candidates in Rick Tocchet.
Since it was announced that Tocchet was not returning to the Vancouver Canucks organization, the Boston Bruins have been linked to him, and it's understandable considering his resume and he has some connections to the Bruins organization.
Today, Elliotte Friedman released a new episode of his 32 Thoughts podcast, and he revealed that there may be a barrier whenever it comes to Tocchet becoming the next head coach of the Boston Bruins.
Elliotte Friedman Reveals Why The Bruins May Miss On Tocchet
"You know, Boston, the one thing about Boston is Tocchet sees himself as worth a certain market," Friedman said. "We know that from his balance with Vancouver. Boston historically hasn't gone there, like I think Vancouver's offer was in the fours. Boston historically hasn't done that, so I don't know. I mean, it could work out. I just don't know."
With Tocchet looking for a nice payday, it's understandable in his shoes, but it may not work out with the Bruins.
NHL insider Jimmy Murphy also stated that it's not likely the Boston Bruins are going to meet his contract demands:
As I've opined on the @BruinsVibes and @sickpodnhl, it would be surprising to see the #NHLBruins meet Tocchet's contract demands. At least they're saving themselves the from firing another Jack Adams award winner if they don't hire him.
That doesn't mean that the Bruins won't meet Tocchet's demands, it's just highly unlikely that the Bruins are going to spend that much on a new head coach. But with Tocchet's resume, and if the Bruins think he is the right head coach, they might just do it.
