A Unexpected Announcement Was Just Made Regarding Head Coach Jay Woodcroft And The Boston Bruins
With the Boston Bruins closing in on hiring a new head coach, an unexpected announcement was just made regarding former Edmonton Oilers head coach Jay Woodcroft and the organization.
The Stanley Cup Playoffs are still going on, but teams that have been eliminated have been working towards filling out their head coach vacancies, as teams like the Rangers, Flyers, and Canucks have all hired new head coaches already.
There are only a few teams left looking to hire a new head coach, and there are limited candidates to choose from now, but according to recent reports, the Boston Bruins have narrowed down their list of candidates.
Announcement Involving The Bruins and Woodcroft
NHL insider Jimmy Murphy has stated that the Bruins search has been narrowed down to Jay Leach, Marco Sturm, and Jay Woodcroft, but Woodcroft is reportedly the leading candidate to win over the role.
Woodcroft ended up spending two years with the Edmonton Oilers and had a overall record of 79-41-13 during his time before being fired after the team got off to a slow start in 2023-24, similar to
Jim Montgomery with the Boston Bruins.
With how well he did with the Edmonton Oilers it's no surprise that teams have been very interested in him as a head coach.
The Bruins have multiple star players on their team, but they don't have the brightest future, and many believe that they should try and acquire younger pieces and build for the future rather then trying to get back into the postseason right now.
It will be interesting to see out of Woodcroft, Sturm and Leach who lands the head coaching job for the Boston Bruins.
