Boston Bruins announce a major change ahead of the 2025-26 season: it was just confirmed to the media

Entering the 2025-26 season, many knew some big changes were coming for the Boston Bruins, but they just announced an unexpected change.
Many believed that the Boston Bruins were going to give some of their top prospects a chance in the NHL next season.
Despite needing top-six scoring help, the Bruins did the complete opposite.
But Elliotte Friedman has confirmed that Don Sweeney planned this, as entering the 2026 free agency there are set to be bigger named free agents, and he predicts that Sweeney is going to take some big swings.
Now leading up to the game, the Bruins made an unexpected change and just confirmed it to the media.
Bruins announce a change at the Prospects Challenge
It's going to be the 10th consecutive time the Bruins have appeared at the Prospects Challenge, but this time it's going to be a bit different.
The Bruins revealed that they will only be playing two games this year, instead of the normal three.
They will be playing against the Pittsburgh Penguins in their first game, and then the New Jersey Devils:

Friday, September 12
Boston vs. Pittsburgh, 3:30 p.m.
Sunday, September 14
New Jersey vs. Boston, 12 p.m.
Boston also revealed that the roster for these games will be released at a later date.
