Boston Bruins Head Coach Joe Sacco Brutally Calls Out His Team After A Terrible Performance
The Boston Bruins are in the middle of a dogfight right now to get a spot in the Stanley Cup playoffs this year, and Thursday's nights game against the Ottawa Senators did not help them.
Boston find themselves off to a slow start, and down in the game 4-1 after the first period, being outshot by the Senators 15-4.
Entering the second period, Jeremy Swayman was pulled and Joonas Korpislao came in to try and stop some of the bleeding.
After the game, head coach Joe Sacco called out his team, and stated that they need to be better, and to start on time.
Joe Sacco Calls Out The Boston Bruins
«We just weren't good enough in the first,» Bruins interim head coach Joe Sacco said on NESN's postgame coverage. «Top to bottom and across the board, and they were the better team. They came out. We kind of got what we deserved in the first period.
«You have to be ready to play every night, and the first period just wasn't good. Our execution wasn't sharp. We just didn't do enough good things, and now you're chasing the game, and you're chasing the offense, and it's a hard way to play.»

Although Swayman struggled, giving up four goals on 15 shots, head coach Joe Sacco isn't putting all the blame on Jeremy Swayman, even though he was pulled to start the second.
Sacco went on to shut down the notion that the Bruins were giving Swayman too much workload and that it was affecting Swayman's performances.
«I don't think so. I just think tonight, that's not all on Sway,» Sacco said. «That's on all of us. I don't think that's the concern. Obviously, we'll do a good job of trying to monitor that, but like I said, this was a team effort here, and we just weren't sharp enough in the first period, and it cost us, probably.»
The Bruins showed some fight, and battled back scoring two goals in the second period, but Linus Ullmark put on an absolute performance for the Ottawa Senators, making some highlight-reel saves to secure the win.
«I liked the fact that we didn't quit in the game, and that we were generating some offense,» Sacco said. «He made a couple of high-quality saves there, but, I just think for us, it was about the start of the game. I loved the fact that we stuck with it. We had some opportunities, and he made a couple of good saves.»
If the Bruins had gotten off to a solid start, the outcome could have been different, and they would be sitting in a playoff spot right now.
