Boston Bruins insider finally revealed why Jim Montgomery was fired by the organization

The Boston Bruins have issues, and some of those started at the very beginning of the year. The time when we saw the Bruins' house in disarray, as Jim Montgomery seemed to have lost the magic that he held over the team from the beginning of his tenure during the 2022-2023 season.

He'd be fired at the beginning of the year, which we thought was a bad decision. Considering Don Sweeney has gotten the benefit of the doubt, it seems unfair, but nevertheless, here we are.

Thanks to NHL Insider Jimmy Murphy, the Bruins and Montgomery's dissolution began in the summer.

When the front office decided to send a pathetic contract offer to a Head Coach who has taken them to the playoffs twice and won a President's Trophy once.

At this point since he didn't want to sign a contract with the team, it gave GM Don Sweeney and President Cam Neely the perfect pretext to fire a winning coach in Montgomery.

He'd finish his Bruins tenure with a terrible record of 8-9-3, but his all-time record in Boston is 120-41-23 and a .715 winning percentage.

Sounds like Sweeney wasn't trying to get Montgomery, a winning coach at Big Lots Prices.

We all know that GM Kelly McCrimmon of the Vegas Golden Knights spares no expense to build a winning team.

But GM's like Don Sweeney and Stan Bowman think they can bargain bin their way to a Stanley Cup and again they're proven false.

Now, they have Joe Sacco, who is doing no better, with an arguably worse lineup than what they had at the start of the year.

Who remains blameless? Don Sweeney.
