Boston Bruins organization faced with a serious issues: Outcome will be disastrous
After the 2024-25 season came to an end, Boston Bruins goaltender Joonas Korpisalo did not hold back his frustration with the organization.
Korpisalo ended up throwing the Boston Bruins coaching staff under the bus with his comments, as he was not happy with his playing time.
With his $3 million contract, it would have been smart for Don Sweeney to try and move him ahead of the NHL draft, or free agency, but the Bruins are holding on to him and it's causing a problem.
The Edmonton Oilers have struggled with goaltending, and when they were rumors the Bruins were trading for
Viktor Arvidsson, it was believed that
Korpisalo was going the other way.
Instead, the Boston Bruins just shipped out a late round draft pick.
Heading into free agency, there was an expectation that the Bruins were going to let goaltender
Michael DiPietro walk as he was gaining a lot of interest from other teams, but they signed him to a two-year deal worth $812,500.
With the Boston Bruins entering next season with three goaltenders on their roster, something has to give, and it's more likely that Korpisalo is on the way out over the other goaltenders.
Korpisalo becoming a big problem for the Bruins
Heading into next year, Swayman is going to be the Bruins No. 1 goaltender, but it's unclear who is going to be the backup.
New head coach Marco Sturm already stated that playing time will be earned, and if DiPietro outplays Korpisalo, the Bruins will have no choice but to trade him.
