Boston Bruins steal a top player from the Toronto Maple Leafs during NHL free agency
An NHL insider has unveiled that the Boston Bruins organization stole a top player from the Toronto Maple Leafs during this year's NHL free agency.
During this year's NHL free agency that began on July 1st, the Boston Bruins' general manager, Don Sweeney, and the front office insured they did everything in their power to make acquisitions and trades that would bring this Original Six franchise back into post contention for the 2025/26 NHL season.
Although the organization was not capable of making some acquisitions they intended to, the Boston Bruins undoubtably endured a busy July 1st, as they acquired several players that can bring this franchise to the next step of their re-build.
These moves included the acquisition of former Los Angeles Kings forward,
Tanner Jeannot.
The Boston Bruins organization signed Jeannot as a free agent on July 1st, 2025.
Yet, new insight has shown that the organizations rival, the Toronto Maple Leafs, were in on this forward prior to his landing in Boston.
NHL insider, Elliotte Friedman, reveals the Toronto Maple Leafs were in the mix of acquiring Tanner Jeannot
It was unveiled that, although Toronto wanted to add some much needed toughness to their roster, they had all eyes on
Tanner Jeannot.
According to NHL insider,
Elliotte Friedman, on his 32 Thoughts podcast, the Toronto Maple Leafs, alongside the New York Rangers and the Ottawa Senators, were in the mix of potential trade destinations for Tanner Jeannot prior to his landing in Boston.
«I heard the competition for Tanner Jeannot was fierce; I heard the Rangers, Ottawa, it fits with Toronto.»
This just proves how dedicated the Boston Bruins organization is regarding their on-going re-tool, as GM Sweeney pushed to acquire this top-forward.
