Bruins Set To Hire A Head Coach Following Latest Move With GM Don Sweeney
There are only a couple of other teams still looking for a head coach, and the Boston Bruins are one of them, but with their recent move involving General Manager Don Sweeney, it is expected that the team is going to hire a head coach soon.
The New York Rangers, and Philadelphia Flyers took two of the best coaches off of the market early on in Mike Sullivan and Rick Tocchet.
There were reports that the Boston
Bruins were in the mix for both of those head coaches, but with Don Sweeney being on his final year of his contract, it hindered the Bruins from hiring one of them.
Now that the Boston
Bruins signed General Manager Don Sweeney to a two-year contract extension, the Bruins are set to announce a new head coach soon. The signing surprised many considering Cam Neely stated that this upcoming year would be a make or break it year for Sweeney.
Who The Bruins Are Interested In
The Bruins are looking for someone with experience in the league, without specifying head coaching experience, and someone that can connect with young players, and Sturm is exactly that.
Jacob Punturi of Si.com had this to say about the Bruins hiring a head coach soon:
I fully expect the coaching search in Boston to end soon. Sturm remains the front-runner, but they've reportedly interviewed a multitude of candidates. Assistant coach Jay Leach, former Edmonton Oilers bench boss Jay Woodcroft, and current Providence Bruins head coach Ryan Mougenel remain top candidates as well according to The Athletic's Fluto Shinzawa.
Do you think Marco Sturm is the perfect head coaching candidate for the Boston Bruins?
