At the end of the month last month, life changing news struck Charlie McAvoy and his wife Kiley, as it was announced that they added a new addition to their family.
Bruins insider Fluto Shinzawa revealed that on January 27th the McAvoy family officially added their son Rhys to the family.
In his second game back into the Boston Bruins lineup, after returning from a lingering injury Charlie McAvoy scored his first goal as a father. It took the Bruins just 10:21 into the first period to score on the power play to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead.
Charlie McAvoy would end up finishing the game with 1 goal, 2 shots on goal, 1 block, a plus-1 and with 25:12 of ice time.
Following the game, Charlie McAvoy made a heartwarming gesture with the puck. He ended up taking the puck home that he scored and gave it to his son Rhys.
McAvoy has appeared in 47 games now for the Boston Bruins after missing seven games this season, and has six goals, 15 assists for 21 points on the year.
With just three Bruins games left until the Four Nations Tournament, fans are hopeful that the break will help Charlie McAvoy reset, and return back to his usual form.
It doesn't help that he has been dealing with a lingering issue either, but hopefully this upcoming break can do him good.
