The NHL Department of Player Safety is expected to announce a 5+ game suspension ahead of the Boston Bruins upcoming game.
Sunday morning it was announced that the NHL is going to have an in person meeting with
Ryan Hartman after a dirty play took place late Saturday night.
Minnesota's Ryan Hartman has been offered an in-person hearing for roughing Ottawa's Tim Stützle. Date and time TBD.
The NHL only offers in person hearings for when the league intends to suspend a player for more then five games. With this announcement the NHL Department of Player Safety is expected to hand out a massive suspension.
Ryan Hartman won't be able to argue their call much, as the play that took place appears to be a clear indication that he intentionally tried to injure the Senators forward.
On Saturday night, during the Ottawa Senators, Minnesota Wild game, Ryan Hartman drove
Tim Stutzle's head down into the ice right off of a faceoff.
In the video you can clearly see that Hartman placed his arm on the back of Stutzle's head and drove it into the ice with the whole weight of his body on Stutzle's head. This would result in Stutzle being cut wide open.
Ryan Hartman receives a match penalty for attempt to injure on this play with Tim Stützle 🤕
Hartman was immediately ejected from the game, which resulted in an immediate suspension, and today the NHL Player Safety revealed that may be getting a massive suspension.
This could affect the Bruins upcoming game. The Bruins are set to faceoff against the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday, and with the Wild already missing Karpizov, losing Hartman would be a tough loss.
