Completed trade between the Boston Bruins and Florida Panthers takes an unexpected turn
The Boston Bruins and Florida Panthers completed a trade, and it's taken an unexpected turn.
The Boston Bruins organization officially committed to a new chapter in their franchise when they departed with their former veteran and captain,
Brad Marchand.
This trade erupted moments before the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline which saw the organization's former 16-year veteran,
Brad Marchand, sent to the Florida Panthers in exchange for a conditional 2027 second-round pick.
However, due to the fact Marchand played in at least 50% of the Florida's playoff games, and the fact that the Panthers made it past two rounds, the pick changed to a first-rounder for the Boston Bruins.
The Boston Bruins and Florida Panthers' completed trade takes a turn for the worst for this Original Six franchise
Despite the Bruins receiving a first-round pick for their former veteran, there is no arguing the fact that this return was certainly underwhelming.
Especially when noting how much Marchand thrived during the playoffs with the Panthers, as he recorded a whopping 10 goals, 10 assists, totalling at 20 points, and a plus-17 rating in 23 games.
There is no doubting the idea that this experienced veteran played an immense factor in the Panthers ended up repeating as
Stanley Cup Champions.
In the grand scheme of things, while the Bruins did Marchand a favour by trading him to his preferred organization, this trade is one that stings in countless ways.
And now, to make things hurt a little more, Marchand will now be a Panther for six more seasons as he re-signed with Florida this summer.
