Last off-season, the Boston Bruins ended up signing Jeremy Swayman, and locking him up as the organizations starting goaltender for the next eight-years when he was signed to a $66 million contract. Elliotte Friedman just confirmed that he may not spend the next eight years with the team.
Swayman was given the starting position for the first time for the Bruins, but struggled majorly. He finished with a record of 22-29-7, a .892 SV% in 58 starts during his first full year of starting.
With how the season went, it definitely shifted the narrative for the Bruins. It was revealed that many teams have been circling Jeremy Swayman entering the off-season.
Bruins Reportedly Listening To Calls On Swayman
Elliotte Friedman confirmed that the Boston Bruins have been getting calls regarding Friedman, and that the Boston Bruins are listening to the calls on him.
This was a tough year as you know. And I think teams, do they do their due diligence? I think they call and say, 'This was a rough year, you made a lot of changes, what other changes are you thinking and would you ever think about doing something like [trading Swayman]?'
Friedman speculated that Swayman would receive some calls after his poor season, and Spittin' Chiclets producer Mike Grinnell referenced his comments from an earlier episode of his 32 Thoughts Podcast.
To me, if it was me, I would tell Swayman this is gonna be a quiet summer for you. You're not gonna do any interviews, you're gonna spend your summer in the gym, and you're gonna be ready to play. And if I was Swayman, I would do the same thing,
Friedman added.
But I do think teams have called [the Bruins], teams that have goaltending questions, and they have asked the Bruins would you consider doing it? And I think the Bruins proved this year that the answer for them is not necessarily no, but I think it would take an awful lot for them to consider it.
Don Sweeney stated that no one is off-limits, and there is a good chance that the Bruins could trade Jeremy Swayman.
