Former Boston Bruins captain, and legend, Patrice Bergeron finally broke the silence on the Brad Marchand trade that sent him to the Florida Panthers, and it's safe to say that he is not a fan of it.

NESN recently revealed that Patrice Bergeron is not ready to see Brad Marchand dawn the Florida Panthers jersey.
So much so that Patrice Bergeron even denied his kids a wish because of it.
On Monday, Patrice Bergeron appeared on NESN and finally spoke on the trade, admitting that he was not letting his kids get or wear a Florida Panthers Brad Marchand jersey.
Patrice Bergeron played alongside Brad Marchand for 14 years in Boston. After the trade happened his kids asked if they could get a Brad Marchand Florida Panthers jersey, and Patrice Bergeron rejected it.

Bergeron Speaks Out On The Brad Marchand Trade

Although Bergeron did not say he wasn't going to get them one in the future or down the road, he just stated that it's way too early for them to get one.
«I said that earlier that my kids were asking for Marshy Florida jersey,» Bergeron said, via NESN. «I said, 'Way too early for that.'»
Marchand being traded by the Boston Bruins at the NHL trade deadline sent shockwaves through the NHL, and even left the front office speechless. There was a lot of speculation that he could be traded, but no one actually believed it would happen, until it did..
Marchand took the "C" from Patrice Bergeron after he retired, and only wore it for a little over a year before the Boston Bruins decided to trade him for a conditional second-round pick.
«Just seeing that footage - is definitely different, obviously,» Bergeron said about the clip of Marchand's introduction with the Panthers. «I love him so much. I wish him all the best. But it's definitely gonna be different not seeing him with black and gold.»

Paul Bissonnette revealed that Brad Marchand was asking for a three-year, $7.5 million contract extension, but the Boston Bruins were willing to offer him what he currently makes ($6.125M), and nothing higher then that.
Marchand remains on the sidelines with an upper-body injury and it's unclear when he will make his debut with the Florida Panthers.
