Montgomery Sheds Light On What The First Two Lines Will Look Like Come Opening Night
Boston Bruins' head coach Jim Montgomery recently had an interview with Steve Conroy from The Boston Herald, shedding light on several key topics that will catch the attention of Bruins fans. One of the most noteworthy revelations, especially in the near future, is Montgomery's decisions regarding the team's first and second forward lines as they gear up for the upcoming season.
It's undoubtedly a challenging task, given the significant departures of players like Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci, which have been the talk of the offseason. This includes other valuable supporting scorers like last year's addition, Tyler Bertuzzi.
According to Montgomery, "The rest will sort itself out as we go through training camp," implying that he anticipates ongoing adjustments. However, he has a plan to disperse the remaining star players, Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak, across different lines.
Montgomery intends to maintain the effective partnership between Pastrnak and Pavel Zacha, which had helped elevate Zacha's performance to a career-high 21 goals and 57 points last season.
These two will likely have veteran free agent signing James van Riemsdyk on the left wing to complete the line. On the other hand, Marchand will take the lead on what seems to be the team's secondary line, joined by Charlie Coyle at center and Jake DeBrusk on the right wing.
