During the 2025 NHL trade deadline, the Boston Bruins completely changed their roster whenever they decided to move on from a bunch of key players.
Brandon Carlo, Brad Marchand, Charlie Coyle, and Trent Frederic were some of the notable names Don Sweeney traded at the deadline.
The Boston Bruins have now entered a retool, and it's fair to wonder if they will make any more changes leading up to the 2025-26 season.
Heading into the new season, if the Bruins have another poor year, it's certain that more changes will be on the way, but there is also a chance they make some changes ahead of the new season.
New details have now emerged on the possibility of the Boston Bruins trading away goaltender Joonas Korpisalo.
Could Korpisalo be traded before the season begins?
Looking at the Bruins current roster, goaltender Joonas Korpisalo may be the team's biggest trade candidate. Since the beginning of the off-season, Korpisalo has been involved in trade rumors.
Once the Bruins re-signed Michael DiPietro ahead of free agency, these rumors have ramped up.
There are some challenges the Bruins would face if they were to try and trade Korpisalo, and the biggest one would be that he has a $3 million cap hit until the end of the 2027-28 season.
This is definitely not cheap for a backup goaltender, and the fact that he had a shaky season with the Bruins does not help his case either.
Korpisalo appeared in 27 games for the Bruins having a 11-10-3 record with a 2.90 GAA, and a .893 SV%.
One bonus is that all the top UFA goaltenders have been signed, and if a team is looking for some help between the pipes, they may be intrigued to give Korpisalo a shot.
