New insight from an NHL insider has unveiled what Boston Bruins' general manager, Don Sweeney, would have to pay to acquire a hard hitting defenseman.
The Boston Bruins are currently expected to be in a tough position this upcoming 2025/26 NHL season if the organization's front office and GM Don Sweeney wipe their hands and call their offseason moves completed.
This is due to the fact that the Boston Bruins called a retool following their extremely busy NHL Trade Deadline in March, which saw some key cornerstones of the franchise make their way into separate organizations.
Now, if the Bruins hope to pursue their retool for the remaining weeks of the offseason, they have some work to do.
One area the organization is desperately lacking would arguably be defensively.
That being said, new insight has unveiled what the Boston Bruins would need to pay to acquire a skilled Montreal Canadiens defenseman in order to bolster their defensive roster.
That defenseman is Arber Xhekaj.

According to NHL analyst, Brian Wilde, he stated he would be «absolutely shocked» if the Montreal Canadiens were to trade their fan-favourited enforcer, Arber Xhekaj.
And you would not believe what he anticipates the asking price to be.

«A first-round draft pick would be the only thing they would take, to lose him. They don't need more second-rounders. I can't see him being traded, I think the organization loves him.»
This conversation began while Wilde was on The Sick Podcast with Tony Marinaro, he continued to expresss what it would take for a team to be able to steal this highly skilled defenseman from Montreal.
"That (a second-rounder) is not going to get a trade done, because he has a very high ceiling. I don't mean that in terms of 'first-pair or second-pair,' I mean that in terms of the usefulness that he can bring to the rink every single day as somebody that scares people, as somebody that hits people, as an enforcer."
