The Pittsburgh Penguins were on the hunt for two 1st-round picks at the 2025 trade deadline this season and Bruins 21st overall draft pick Fabian Lysell was a target.

The Boston Bruins are currently in decline, as Don Sweeney tore out the foundation of the team as it stands, sending the core out to greener pastures.
With Brandon Carlo gone, followed by Trent Frederic, Charlie Coyle, and Brad Marchand he could've made a worse deal even after all of those.
GM Kyle Dubas runs the Pittsburgh Penguins organization, taking over after Ron Hextall failed to build a winning team. Now looking to acquire top picks in the next 2025 draft, Frank Seravalli shared some interesting information.
GM Kyle Dubas was shopping forward Rickard Rakell, a Penguins top-six forward for a couple of first-round picks, and a top prospect for Rakell.
While Rakell did score 58 points in 67 games last season, the price was way too high, and Dubas well, was setting himself up for disappointment.
The Bruins desperately need talent and could've used Rakell in the top six, but the asking price for Rakell was too much.
The cost from the Bruins for Rakell would've been two 2025 1st-round picks and top-Bruins prospect Fabian Lysell, someone who could be a star in the NHL once he hits his prime
While Sweeney deserves a lot of scorn for his recent moves, the asking price was too high for a forward who is past his prime. He's definitely benefitted from playing on Sidney Crosby's line, as it's doubtful he could produce at this clip elsewhere in the league.
"Seravalli says Pittsburgh's demand for Rickard Rakell at the deadline was each team's top prospect and two first-round picks."

Rakell was another prominent NHLer who was featured during this year's Four Nations Face-Off tournament.
