A recent announcement revealed some tragic injury news regarding a star player on the Boston Celtics.

Today, an announcement revealed that Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum ended up suffering a torn right Achilles tendon on Monday night during their loss in the playoffs to the Knicks.
The team announced that Tatum has already undergone surgery, and stated that there is no timetable for his return, but it's clear that he is going to miss a big portion, if not all of the 2025-26 season.
This news is a big blow to the Celtics, who are currently down in the series 3-1 to the New York Knicks in their second-round series matchup. Boston is going to have to try and keep their season alive in game 5 without Tatum on Wednesday night.
Late in game 4 on Monday night Tatum ended up suffering his injury. He was chasing a loose ball in the final minutes of the game, took a step backwards, and his right leg completely collapsed to the ground. He stayed on the ground for a long time, and had to be carried off the floor by the medical staff.
Once he reached the tunnel, Tatum was placed in a wheelchair as he was not able to put any weight on his leg.
"Obviously, you're always worried about someone's health, so the fact that he had to be carried off - like you said, he's the type of guy that gets right up. He didn't," Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla said during his postgame press conference. "We'll know tomorrow exactly what it is. It's tough to watch a guy like him get carried off like that."

Before the injury happened, Tatum was having one of the best games of his career. He ended up finishing the night with 42 points, eight rebounds, four assists, four steals, and two blocks on 16 of 28 from the field.
"That's our brother and you hate to see him go down," Derrick White said Monday. "You just know the type of guy he is and it's tough to see him go down... He knows that we love him. I'm sure I'll see him soon."
