Yesterday, the Avalanche made a notable roster move, sending veteran forward Chris Wagner to AHL Colorado. This decision coincided with the anticipated return of Valeri Nichushkin and Yakov Trenin from injuries, scheduled for last night's game against the Oilers.

Wagner, who signed a two-way deal with the Avs during the offseason, had been a consistent presence with AHL Providence before joining the Avalanche lineup in January. Despite limited NHL action, he demonstrated versatility and reliability on the ice.

Following an Achilles injury in training camp, Wagner made his debut with the Avalanche, contributing a goal and an assist in 11 games. His impact extended to the minors, where he posted eight points in 17 games with AHL Colorado.

Recognizing his value, the Avs recently extended Wagner's contract with a one-year, two-way deal, ensuring his continued role within the organization. Although temporarily assigned to the minors, Wagner is expected to rejoin the Avalanche for the upcoming Stanley Cup Playoffs, highlighting his significance to the team's depth and flexibility.
