The prospects keep killing it!
The Providence Bruins have shutout the Hershey Bears 1-0 in an Easter Sunday afternoon matchup. On Saturday,
Georgi Merkulov and Johnny Beecher stood out for the B's, but today it was goaltender
Brandon Bussi and defenseman
Michael Callahan.
Callahan scored his first career AHL goal, while Bussi recorded his first shutout and is now 2-0-0 after his first two professional games.
Callahan was selected by the Arizona Coyotes in the fifth round, 142nd overall in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. Boston acquired the young defenseman's rights at the 2022 Trade Deadline in exchange for a 2024 seventh-round pick. The Franklin, Massachusetts native, captained Providence College in his final junior year.
Brandon Bussi went undrafted but signed with Boston out of Western Michigan University, where he posted a . 912 SV% in 39 games, with a record of 26-12-1. The 6'5", 220 lb. Sound Beach, New York native, gives the Bruins added depth at the goaltending position.
