After missing the Stanley Cup playoffs for the first time in franchise history, the Vegas Golden Knights are making changes behind the bench.
It is reported that the Golden Knights have fired head coach Peter Deboer, first reported by NHL insider Elliotte Friedman on Twitter (@FriedgeHNIC):
And the Vegas Golden Knights confirmed it on their Twitter:
After just being hired on January 15th, 2020, DeBoer led the Knights to a 40-14-2 record In the COVID-shortened 2020-21 season, which tied for the most points in the league with the Colorado Avalanche. They placed second in the West Division as they had fewer regulation wins than the Avs. They lost in the Stanley Cup semifinals to the Montreal Canadiens in six games.
The Golden Knights will be looking for their third head coach since their inauguration into the NHL in 2017.
