From what initially looked like a depth deal for the Boston Bruins, now looks like an absolute steal by Don Sweeney.
In 56 games this season, the 25 year old has registered 13 goals and 25 assists. What's most impressive, however, are his stats since signing a new deal.
On January 14th, the Bruins and Zacha agreed to a four-year, $19 million extension which will pay him $4.75 million per season. Since that day, his stats are impressive (see below):
GP: 15
G: 8
A: 5
P: 13
+/-: +8
All 13 of those points for Zacha have come at even strength while he's averaging around 15 minutes per game.
The Czechia native is just two goals shy of his career high of 15, while he's already surpassed his personal bests in assists and points.
Zacha has so far proved that he could at least be a number two centre in Boston for the future, but he has worked well up and down the lineup.
