P.K. Subban now remains the top defenseman available on the free agent market.
Despite rumours suggesting that he's only interested in signing with a contender, it appears he could be sitting on an offer from a Pacific Division club that is not expected to contend next season.
Per Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now, there is mutual interest between the Sharks and Subban. San Jose could be a desirable location for Subban because he would have a legitimate shot at playing top-four minutes, which is not a luxury he will receive from a contender.
Subban is not the Norris Trophy winner of the past, as the signs of age and decline show. The 33-year-old recorded 5 goals and 22 points in 77 games last season with the New Jersey Devils.
