The Boston Bruins exploded in the second period of their game against the New Jersey Devils on Thursday.
The B's found the back of the net six times in the middle frame. Six times!
Most Bruins fans can't remember the last time they saw the team score that many goals in a single period. As a matter of fact, the six-goal mark in 20 minutes of play has only been reached 24 times in the Bruins 97-year-old history.
That last time the B's lit the lamp six times in a single period? It was
38 years ago! Boston scored six times in the middle frame of their game against the St.Louis Blues back on November 3, 1983.
On that day, six different players scored for the B's in the second stanza; Rick Middleton, Luc Dufour, Nevin Markwart, Mike Krushelnyski, Ray Bourque and Bruce Crowder.
Ironically enough, only Bourque's goal came on the power play, just like last night, when only Patrice Bergeron's tally came with the man advantage.
