We've been wondering all this time who in the Bruins organization could end up replacing
Brad Marchand as Captain.
Thanks to NESN Analyst Andy Brickley we now know who will wear the "C" next for the organization.
It will be Boston Bruins defenseman
Charlie McAvoy who has been with the team since the 2017-2018 season.
He'd be a key piece for the team during their run to the Stanley Cup finals in 2019 and has been a remnant of the core that has been vivisected by GM Don Sweeney.
How fitting it would be him right?
McAvoy's entire career has been spent with the Bruins in TD Garden and Black and Gold.
He's played 503 total games for the Bruins and scored 300 points (60 goals, 240 assists) with 423 PIMs.
McAvoy isn't a stranger to being a leader as he's served as Alternate Captain from 2023-2024 to now. McAvoy would also don the "A" for Team USA during the Four Nations Face-Off.
It'd make sense that either he or
David Pastrnak would get the promotion to the Captaincy.
But since McAvoy plays a heavy game that Bruins fans tend to love, I don't think we can be too sore about Pastrnak keeping the alternate patch in that instance.
He's scored 23 points (7 goals, 16 assists) in 50 games with the Bruins this season and is still considered week-to-week by the organization.
