Heading into the off-season, fans expected a busy one from Don Sweeney but they were pretty disappointed with the moves he ended up making.

The Boston Bruins made it clear that they were going to be making some changes in the off-season.
Instead of making some big moves, the Boston Bruins just ended up signing a bunch of depth/bottom-six players.
NHL insider Elliotte Friedman just revealed on his 32 Thoughts podcast on why the Bruins didn't make any big moves during free agency.

Bruins preparing for the 2026 free agency

Despite the Bruins signing Tanner Jeannot to a five-year, $3.4 million deal, every other player they signed was on a short term deal.
Entering free agency this off-season, there were not a lot of big named players that the Boston Bruins could have really went after.
Elliotte Friedman stated that the Bruins set themselves up nicely to be able to go after some bigger names in the next free agency after the 2025-26 season.
You can hear Elliotte Friedman talk about this HERE.
Elliotte Friedman on BOS rather conservative 2025 FA, and wanting to have more opportunity and flexibility for 2026 FA. This is in line with my opinion that BOS is viewing 2025-2026 as a season to get their shit together, and then supplement a few higher end missing pieces after
He also stated the Boston Bruins took a couple big swings in free agency last year with Zadorov, and Lindholm, and he could be waiting for the cap hit to go up again before they make some more big moves.
So it looks like fans are going to have to wait until next off-season to see the Boston Bruins make any big signings in free agency.
