The Boston Bruins have a lack of star talent, and only one Bruins player, David Pastrnak has found himself in the Hart Trophy discussion.

When Brad Marchand was traded to the Florida Panthers, someone had to embrace a leadership role.
That has been David Pastrnak who has been the Bruins bright spot in a dark season.
Pastrnak has been playing elite hockey, scoring 82 points (34 G, 48 A) in 67 games for the Bruins, leaving fellow Czech Pavel Zacha in the dust by 42 points.
Pastrnak's stayed hot even when the Bruins have failed to perform up to expectations, as he's currently fifth in the NHL in points, and fourth in goals with 34 this season.
He's made a case for himself as Bruins MVP this season, and he should get a nomination for the Hart Trophy this season.
The Czech forward has found himself in an odd position being a leader on and off the ice, while being the team's top scorer.
A situation he likely thought he'd never experience until after Marchand's trade.
However, there's more to David Pastrnak's case for the Hart Trophy than valuable point production on an offensively lacking team. There's a leadership role being assumed by Pastrnak that the Bruins were desperate for.
He'd find a way to quickly adapt to a fluid Bruins situation which led to the team trading Captain Brad Marchand.
The team also traded their ancillary leaders like Brandon Carlo, and Charlie Coyle which led to Pastrnak naturally stepping up to fill a role that was experiencing a vacuum thanks to GM Don Sweeney's trades during the March 7th deadline.
Instead of overthinking it, he just plays with the type of passion we know him for and has fit the role well in a short period of time.
He was asked about a potential promotion to team Captain, and Pastrnak remained humble and would instead talk about the last stretch of the season which he was focused on.
«We have 17 games left, and that's been my main focus, to build on those two games. We played pretty good hockey, and you know, this has to be our standard for the rest of the season, and see where it takes us.»

He sounds like a Captain already.
