Boston Bruins To Land Top Free Agent? A Unexpected Announcement Was Made After Being Linked To Him

According to a recent report from an NHL insider, there is some belief that the St. Louis Blues have now emerged as a top landing destination to acquire Sam Bennett if he hits the free agent market.

The Florida Panthers have battled back from being down 2-0 to the Toronto Maple Leafs, and have tied the series up at 2 a piece, looking like they may be on their way for another Stanley Cup run.

Florida is one of, if not the most physical teams in the Playoffs, and a big reason for that is Sam Bennett, and because of his style of play, plus his offensive production, he is expected to receive a big pay day in the summer.

The Boston Bruins have previously been linked to Bennett, but it seems like they are not a top landing destination for him anymore.

Obviously there is going to be a lot of teams interested in landing Bennett in the off-season, but NHL analyst Andy Strickland has revealed that the Blues have now surfaced as a top team to acquire him in the off-season.

The Blues took a big step forward, especially after hiring former Boston Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery, and down the second half of the season they were easily the hottest team in the league.

Given how they played down the stretch, it's easy to see why Sam Bennett and other pending free agents would be interested in playing there.

The Blues have Robert Thomas and Brayden Schenn as their top two centers, and it's clear that they need to bring in someone else. Adding someone like Bennett would be game changing for the Blues.

Strickland also stated that despite being Canadian and previously playing for the Flames, there is no interest in signing with a team in his home country.
