It was an emotional day yesterday, Friday March 29, when the former Boston Bruins captain, Brad Marchand, took on this ice and made his debut for his new organization, the Florida Panthers, and the 9-year-veteran had to make sure it was a night himself as well as his family would never forget.

It was needless to say a very monumental moment in the life and career of the Boston Bruins former forward, Brad Marchand, when he represented not just a new team, but representing a very unfamiliar franchise for the first time within his whole career since playing in the NHL.
Although these kind of circumstances may make one feel out of place, especially as a new member of a contender, the team's fan-base did in fact immediately give their former rival a very warm welcome.
Despite the fact March 7 may still suggest to be a little sour for the player, Marchand was seemly enthusiastic about his new team and credited the Panthers for giving him such a warm welcome.
"It's such an incredible group of guys," said Marchand. "Very welcomingit's been a lot of fun so far."
Any player enduring this kind of switch in their career would hope their debut was a successful one, and that definitely worked in Marchand's favour Friday Night, as he played a large part to the team taking home the win.
The former Bruin set up the long-time rival, Sam Bennett, in overtime for what would prove to be the game winning goal, with Marchand feeding the puck to Bennett from behind the net.
The assist to the game winning goal would've been suggested to be enough of a debut for the new Panther. However, Marchand would eventually collect a special souvenir following the end of his debut.
Fans of the Florida Panthers threw several rats in celebration for their win and in a fitting gesture (Marchand being labeled as a rat by his opponents for many years), the former Bruin collected a few of them to bring home.
Take a look:
Although this moment couldn't have gotten better for Panther's fans, the forward then revealed the souvenir's were less for himself and more for his children, who has been curious at the unusual celebrate from Florida.
Despite Boston missing this core player, fans are optimistic for this veteran as he is seemingly enjoying his time in the sun.
