Boston pulled off a tough win over the Hurricanes yesterday with new absences of Bergeron, Marchand and Lindholm, and McAvoy was sure to let the trio have it.

Not Letting Them Off so Easily

The Bruins have already secured a playoff spot - and the Atlantic Division - so, it was important to let players with nagging injuries get some much-needed rest. However, defenseman Charlie McAvoy made sure to have some fun at the expense of the trio while speaking with the media postgame.

''We just have to trim the fat, man.''

''No, I don't know. This kind of had the makings of that, I felt, coming in. We didn't have those guys, kind of a no-pressure game, really, because we're not fielding our normal lineup. And to still get a result was great. I thought we really were just playing for each other. It was a lot of fun.''

Patrice Bergeron (37), Brad Marchand (34) and Hampus Lindholm (heavy workload this season), all deserved the game off with just nine remaining in the season.
