A recent announcement has revealed former Boston Bruins defenseman, Matt Grzelcyk, has turned down a $1M offer from a Western Conference organization to sign a Professional Tryout (PTO).
Despite Matt Grzelcyk's previous 40-point campaign with the Pittsburgh Penguins, this 31-years old blueliner still remains unsigned.
Yet new insight has unveiled some interesting details regarding Grzelcyk shutting down an offer.
NHL report reveals that Matt Grzelcyk rejected a $1 million deal to sign a PTO
According to Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic, defenseman Matt Grzelcyk has reportedly turned down a one-year, $1 million deal from an anonymous Western Conference team.
While this Western Conference team has yet to be identified, speculation has included the Colorado Avalanche as a potential organization who offered Grzelcyk the deal.
This is mostly due to the fact the Avalanche are dealing with uncertainty regarding their defenseman, Samuel Girard, as he endured a lower-body injury.
Additionally, Colorado has just over $1.3 million in cap space, leaving many to believe this organization would make them a logical candidate to offer Grzelcyk a deal.
However, this blueliner ultimately denied the contract, so he could undergo a professional tryout (PTO) with the Chicago Blackhawks.
