Today, the Boston Bruins made a massive announcement regarding their American Hockey League affiliate the Providence Bruins.
Everyone saw it coming after what General Manager Don Sweeney ended up pulling off during the NHL trade deadline.
Everyone knew after the trade deadline came to an end that the Bruins were not going to be a playoff team this year. Losing all those players, and getting younger, inexperienced players in return, it was hard to imagine them actually making it.
Just because the Boston Bruins aren't in the playoffs, doesn't mean that Bruins fans won't have a team to cheer for if they wanted to watch some playoff hockey, because the Providence Bruins will be playing playoff hockey.
