The Bruins revealed how they tried to persuade Bergeron to return for another year
Cam Neely, wearing a smile, shared his perspective on trying to convince Patrice Bergeron to continue playing:
"I did. Don [Sweeney] did. I'm sure Charlie [Jacobs] did. I'm sure some of his teammates did as well. But we gave him the time to make the decision that he wanted to make."
The retirement decision of the beloved Boston Bruins' captain was met with a mix of emotions, but the team respected his choice and allowed him to make the decision on his terms.
Bergeron's departure leaves a significant void in the lineup, and the Bruins will now look to adapt and find new leaders for the upcoming season.
