Jake DeBrusk attended a 3 v 3 hockey charity game recently, and he told reporters that he'd like to stay in Boston.
The 26-year-old was selected 14th overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Last season, DeBrusk had 27 goals and 23 assists, tallying up to 50 points in 64 games.
He really stepped last season, and Boston hopes he can continue to step it up after the departures of Patrice Bergeron, David Krejci, and
Tyler Bertuzzi.
So what will the extension look like? Well, many people are comparing it to
Brandon Hagel.
Hagel is 25 years old and signed a 8-year, $52 million deal with the Tampa Bay Lightning. DeBrusk and Hagel are very similar, so expect around the same amount for Jake.
Hopefully Sweeney can get it done.
