NHL DoPS is set to suspended Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Nicolas Roy after he intentionally tried to injure ex-Boston Bruin Trent Frederic and was handed a five-minute major for the play.
During the second game of the series between the Edmonton Oilers and the Vegas Golden Knights there was some drama. Both teams were playing a physical style of hockey, and each ended up losing a key player during the game.
The Vegas Golden Knights ended up losing one of their most important defenseman in
Brayden McNabb. He ended up taking a dangerous hit from Oilers forward
Viktor Arvidsson in overtime.
The Oilers also had a scare when Trent Frederic ended up going down from a scary cross-check to the face from Nicolas Roy.
Frederic got hit directly in the face from Roy's stick and immediately dropped down to the ice. Frederic did end up returning back to the game during overtime, and Roy got a 5-minute major and was also ejected from the game.
It was announced that the NHL is going to make a decision on the cross-check, but it's hard to see a suspension coming out of this, and he will more then likely just be fined by the league.
The NHL Department of Player Safety confirmed that Roy will have a hearing today for the cross-check on Trent Frederic.
Vegas' Nicolas Roy will have a hearing tonight for cross-checking Edmonton's Trent Frederic.
Stay tuned for further details.
