The Calgary Flames were hoping to get Johnny Gaudreau locked up to a max contract extension.
The club even offered ''Johnny Hockey'' an eight-year, $10 million-plus contract earlier this morning.
Unfortunately for the Flames, it appears that Gaudreau has decided he'd rather test the free agent market and sign elsewhere.
Terrible news for Flames fans as their best player will be moving on.
Is this a sign of dark days ahead for Calgary?
