The centerman finished the past season just one-point shy of the Eagles' scoring lead.
An undrafted free agent,
Marc McLaughlin spent the past four seasons suiting up for Boston College and he served as the Eagles' team captain for the past two. The 6'2'' and 210-pound forward was born in North Billerica, MA, just one hour north of Boston.
Overall, the 22-year-old has played 130 career games with B.C., racking up 40 goals and 76 points to go along with a +30 ratio. However, it was McLaughlin's last campaign that was truly remarkable. The senior finished the 2021-22 season with career highs across the board thanks to his 21 goals, 11 helpers and 32 points.
Don Sweeney just announced that the team has signed McLaughlin to a two-year entry-level contract that begins this season and carries an annual cap hit of $883,750.
Last month, McLaughlin represented Team USA at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China, but failed to register a point in his two games for the United States.
On top of being a terrific leader, McLaughlin also seems to be a big family guy:
