Patrice Bergeron is arguably the best defensive forward to ever play in the NHL, and even at the age of 37, he's continued to show why.
In season 19 of his legendary career, the Bruins captain is perhaps having his best defensive season yet. It seems impossible by the fact he's already won a record setting five Selke Trophies.
According to Dimitri Filipovic of
The Hockey PDOcast shared Bergeron's incredible 2022-23 stats:
Bruins are up 33-11 with Patrice Bergeron on the ice at 5v5 this season
11 goals against in 666:04 minutes! That's 0.99 goals against per hour of play. Dear lord.
Elite defensive ability may go unnoticed to most fans, as it's the most difficult to judge. Safe to say, Bergeron has become the perfect example of how to do it right.
