A worrying report was just made regarding multiple Boston Bruins top prospects: A trade may be coming
A new and worrying report has been revealed regarding multiple top prospects within the Boston Bruins' lineup, suggesting a trade may be on the rise.
Multiple young players have began to make a name for themselves within the Boston Bruins organization, but played a majority of their 2024/25 season within the Bruins' AHL league, the Providence Bruins.
However, now that a new season is upon us, will these young talents get a shot to crack the NHL roster?
Only time will tell, but let's dissect.
The Boston Bruins'
Matthew Poitras endured 33 games during the 2023/24 season, where he showed an immense amount of promise. The 21-year old recorded five goals, and 10 assists, totalling at 15 points. However, Poitras was sideline during the season due to a right shoulder injury.
The following season, Poitras had a shaky start to the year, which ultimately led the Boston Bruins to demote him to their AHL affiliate, where he played 33 games during that season in the NHL, however, he didn't have as many opportunities.
While Poitras was in the AHL, he played 40 games, recording 17 goals and 24 assists, totalling at 41 points last season.
Fraser Minten is yet another young player who had a lot of promise within Boston.
Minten played a majority of last season in the AHL after being acquired before the 2025 NHL trade deadline in a deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Instead of heading straight into the Boston Bruins lineup, Minten was sent to Providence, where he recorded three goals and four assists within just 11 games.
The Bruins then called him up towards the end of the season, where he scored one goal within six games.
Boston Bruins' head coach, Marco Sturm, hints that players such as Poitras and Minten could get an opportunity to start the 2025/26 NHL season in Boston
In a recent interview, head coach, Marco Sturm, unveiled that these two players could get a shot to start the season off with the Boston Bruins.
«If they play good enough, then I don't have a problem with playing them. I want them to have success,» Sturm told Ryan. «But if not, maybe they're not ready yet, and maybe they have to learn the hard way. Hopefully, we do have some spots available. And I think it sounds like some of the guys have a really good opportunity. I really hope they grab it, because I want them to grab it. I want that competition in our lineup, especially with those young guys. I'm a big believer in that we want to play a fast-paced game, and you kind of need those young legs too, so hopefully some guys will come through.»
Frederic Brunet and
John Farinacci were called up at the end of the 2024/25 NHL season, who can also be prospects that the Bruins could give a chance to next season.
