Don Sweeney will have a major decision this summer regarding recently acquired Tyler Bertuzzi, and now we know what it will reportedly cost the Bruins to keep him.
Depending on what happens this season, Sweeney may have to find a way to re-sign Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci, RFAs Jeremy Swayman, Jakub Lauko and Trent Frederic. While deciding what to do with the following UFAs:
IF this team does go all the way this season, it wouldn't be surprising to see Bergeron, Krejci and maybe even Foligno hanging up the skates and going out on top.
If that does happen, the Bruins would have to choose who they want to keep, and Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic has reported what it may cost to keep at least one of them in Boston. That being, Bertuzzi
Who's Staying and Who's Going?
According to Bruins Cap Space, Boston is projected to have around $3 million in cap space this off-season (as of now). Shinzawa names three current players as ones who could be on their way out of Boston:
''If a $5.5 million AAV catches Bertuzzi's attention, the Bruins would most likely have to move money. Grzelcyk and Forbort may be in play in this scenario as well. The Bruins may also have to consider the future of Hall, who is under contract through 2025 at $6 million annually. Hall, 31, has partial no-trade protection.''
Of course, a lot of it will depend on how the rest of the season unfolds for the Bruins, but anything short of a Stanley Cup would be disappointing, looking at next season.
